Well, I guess I just don’t see what many others do, but I just can’t get overly excited over the Lucky Lunchbox. Maybe it’s just not my kind of place–plenty out there love it for some reason or other…
I think my issue is largely with what you get (not much) for what you pay (quite a bit). A $9 turkey sandwich really needs to deliver, and if I get something I could have easily made at home, then my entitlement meter will rise. What can I say? The heart wants what it wants, and it wants a good sandwich.
There is a lot of talk about fresh baked bread and toppings and so on, and that’s all well and good. The issues I had with my sandwich was still pretty specific.
First, I think their refrigerator might be too cold. The sandwich wasn’t exactly ice cold, but the bite of it felt close to crunchy, in that frostbite kind of way.
Meanwhile, I didn’t love the bread. I didn’t loathe it, but I had expected something a lot better. There just wasn’t anything to love. I have no issues paying extra for something I truly enjoy, but this didn’t do it for me. At all. Maybe I’m in a different sphere than the Lucky Lunchbox’s target audience. Maybe I expect too much. It could be me; not them. Though I’m pretty it was them.
